This massive supply chain company manages over 800 locations worldwide for logistics, maritime services, ports, and terminals, and transports at least 10% of all trade through its infrastructure.
In a recent episode of Supply Chain Digital, Beat Simon, Global Chief Commercial Officer for Logistics, provided more proof of DP World's astounding expansion as he talked about the company's transformation into an end-to-end services provider.
Presently, the business is growing the range of specialised logistics services it offers to clients in the chemicals and retail industries, incorporating new skills and knowledge into its extensive global supply chain infrastructure networks.
DP World's current experience in automotive, perishables, healthcare, and technology is enhanced by these additional specialisations.
Through its subsidiary, Legend Logistics, a worldwide logistics company with its headquarters in Singapore, DP World already has a significant amount of experience in the chemical industry.
It plans to keep expanding this capacity worldwide in order to serve the US$4.2 trillion global chemicals sector, which needs advanced logistics solutions in order to increase productivity, reduce costs, and adhere to stricter environmental and safety regulations.
Future opportunities and challenges that DP World is predicting include the need to expand its service reach into emerging regions and provide more sustainable logistics solutions. Its investment in the logistics of chemicals is intended to support the industry's anticipated $1 trillion in expansion over the next ten years.
Beat says, "We're giving our mission to steer global trade towards a more resilient and efficient future fresh impetus."
"With this extended service, we'll empower our chemical customers to enter new global markets with confidence and competence, knowing that we're enabling innovative energy solutions and optimising operational procedures to monitor, assess, and lessen environmental impact.”
In an effort to provide a wider choice of tools for end-to-end logistics solutions, DP World is expanding its industry-specific expertise. This is part of a larger strategy aimed at ensuring that clients are prepared to confidently face the challenges of the future.
The company's entry into retail logistics follows its acquisition of Cargo Services Far East, a Hong Kong-based global supply chain provider and industry leader in origin services.
